Jakarta, 30/06 –  The Department of Planning of the Indonesia Committee of Defense Industry Policy (Bidren KKIP) held a meeting today with officials from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and PT. Len Industri – Indonesia’s  leading defense-related electronic company. This online meeting was arranged and attended by A Minor Drafter Team of the Master Plan of Defense Industries and the Roadmap of Defense Industries to formulate strategic plans of national defense industries.

The chief of Bidren KKIP, Rear Admiral (rtd) Darwanto, whom leader of the Team described that the meeting was realisation of KKIP’s duty to publish the Master Plan of Defense Industries and the Roadmap of Defense Industries. “We (Bidren KKIP) are mandated to coordinate the drafting of the Master Plan, thus, here we need to introduce any plans to be detailed on the Master Plan” said Darwanto while commenced the discussion.

At the meeting, all participant listened to the presentation of PT. Len Industri about the Roadmap of the Technology and State-Owned Defense Enterprises compiled last year by partnered with well-known global consultant. The company itself is the parent holding of Indonesia’s holding of defence enterprise which establised in 2021.

The Len’s SVP of Engineering and Project Planning, Billy Barokah, outlined that there are three correlated conditions to achieve advanced defense industries: creating ecosystem through institutional arrangement, technology acquisition planning, and strengthening the role of Defend ID – the brand of the holding. “The ten priority of technology acquisitions have been mapped last year but any updates are necessary regarding some recent developments on weapon acqusitions” as mentioned in Billy’s presentation.

The bidren KKIP is the central unit in KKIP which coordinate the planning of national defense industries with the stakeholders. KKIP itself is consists of eleven ministries/agents/user of defence and security equipment (alpalhankam)

In 2022, the Bidren KKIP targets the completion of the draft of the Master Plan of Defense Industries and the Roadmap of Defense Industries. Both documents will encourage the establishment and development of the local defense industry hoping that in the next years the industries are going to hold a large portion of the procurement of the national defense and security system (DO).
